The Hospitale di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme is a complex located in the hamlet of San Tomaso di Majano.
This complex has been owned by the municipality since 2004. The Hospitale was founded at the end of the 12th century. by the knights of St. John of Jerusalem (later Knights of Malta), in the period of the Crusades, as shown in the original institutive parchment, dated 1199, of the “Portis”.
It was an important stop on the Via del Tagliamento in the ancient Via di Allemagna, which connected Europe up to the Baltic countries with the ports of the Adriatic.
